The Presidency and the Press: Conference for High School Media
June 25 - June 30
Three key Granite State organizations have accepted invitations to collaborate on the delivery of this cutting-edge program: The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications, The New Hampshire Alliance for Civic Engagement, and the New Hampshire Political Library.
Because of your support of NHACE and its mission, you are invited to join the conference for the opening festivities and the closing ceremonies. On Sunday, June 25, at the Franklin Pierce College Manchester Campus, starting at 2 p.m., the New Hampshire Political Library is hosting “The First in the Nation Debate,” a panel discussion featuring New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner; John Mashek, U.S.News & World Report White House Correspondent; Thomas Rath, of Rath, Young and Pignatelli; and Edward E. Shumaker, Executive Director of NEA New Hampshire. Marlin Fitzwater, who served as press secretary to both President Reagan and President George H.W. Bush, will deliver a keynote address at 3:30 p.m. And at 4:30, former White House Photographer David Valdez will be on hand for the opening of the Inaugural Exhibition of “Campaign 1992,” a show of some of his previously unpublished works.
The week culminates on Friday, June 30, with a focus on civic engagement and a challenge by one of New Hampshire’s leading citizens, former Governor Walter Peterson. NHACE, a statewide coalition of P-12 schools, youth service organizations, colleges, universities, public and private sector partners and other interested individuals and organizations committed to enhancing civic engagement in New Hampshire, is co-hosting the Closing Ceremonies. Please feel free to join us at Lakeside Educational Center on the Franklin Pierce College Rindge Campus as we honor these students and challenge them to a lifetime of civic engagement.
